School Fundraising

From idea to application I have raised over $2500 dollars from spending $0.

Fundraising Project

Iluka Public School is a small primary school (70 students in total from grades Kindergarten to Year 6).

Fundraising is always challenging due to the size of the school and the community.

The school cookbook is something that was done a lot by schools in the 1980s, and has been a little lost since. So far and counting, over $2500 dollars has been raised. I have several businesses in town selling these on our behalf. This figure is the single largest figure from one fundraising exercise the school has seen since the current P&C has been involved with the school (5+ years).

To give some perspective, a school Fete was held this year. A team of 10+ spent over 6 months planning and organising this event which in the end raised approx $1000.

Role

Speaking with one other member of the P&C we had the idea to bring back the cookbook. I then took it upon myself to design a model that would raise a lot of funds whilst getting the kids involved.  I spoke with a printer, and got a quote for 300 copies. From this quote, I worked out a cost for different sized advertising spaces to sell to local businesses to cover the cost of printing. Some businesses needed help putting adverts together which I did for them also.

From there, I gathered receipes from current students and staff. I encouraged made up recipes and family favourites with the addition of either a photo or a drawing from their family. I also sourced an original 1980s Iluka Public School cookbook I could add receipes from.

There is a section of the book that speaks about Iluka Public Schools rich history.

I then turned these receipes into a beautiful finished cookbook. Every book sold is profit to the school.
